In just a few years, SFU MED has been able to massively increase its own research performance both quantitatively and qualitatively, both in terms of the quantity of publications and the quality (impact factor overall and per publication).

The following figures provide you with the following insights into the research performance of the individual SFU MED centres in the period 9/2015 to 6/2021 (only Pubmed-listed publications):

  • Number of publications per centre
  • Number of all SFU MED publications per year
  • Average impact factor (IF) per publication and centre
  • Total IF of all SFU MED publications per year
  • Average IF per publication per year

The annual publication figures of the public medical universities (Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck) and the private Paracelsus University in Salzburg are understandably still significantly lower due to their much longer research activities at SFU MED, but we have developed extremely well in terms of quality: the average impact factor (IF) per publication in 2021 was 6.07 at SFU MED, calculated over the entire duration of the first 6 years to date, the average IF is 4.42 per publication.

Using the example of the current research focus on cardiological research in 2021, it can be seen that the SFU MED was able to keep up with the public universities of Graz and Innsbruck and the private Paracelsus University in Salzburg in terms of publication figures after just a few years, but is even at the forefront in terms of the IF per publication (10.8).
