Application

Application

The SFU MED Research Promotion Fund supports basic medical research and selected clinical research (“translational research”) with a clear affinity to SFU MED.

The SFU Research Fund supports each approved project with a maximum of €50,000.00.

A project can only be funded if a detailed cost breakdown for the project is submitted at the time of application and if funding is available for any additional costs incurred during the implementation of the overall project, as confirmed in writing by the project leader.

Project applications must be submitted by e-mail to the SFU MED Research Unit, medresearch@med.sfu.ac.at. The submission deadline is 31 October.

All application documents can be found in the download section of the Research Funding Fund

The application must include:

  • A completed funding application (see download section)
  • Proposal
  • Cost estimate (see download section)
  • Ethics approval (For clinical trials, a positive decision from the relevant ethics committee must be attached to the project application)
  • Proof or confirmation of funding for the remaining costs of the overall project (if necessary)
  • Registration number (CTIS or clinical trials) for clinical studies

Project proposal

The project can be submitted in German or English and should take the following points into account:

  •  The title of the project should reflect the project’s content
  • Work packages, timeline, and project duration must be clearly defined and comprehensible
  • The pages of the project proposal must be consecutively numbered
  • The project proposal must include the names of the project leader and project team members

Project Approval

The decision to approve or reject a project is made by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Vice Dean for Research of the Faculty of Medicine, based on the recommendations of the SFU MED Research Council. The applicant will be notified of the result in writing.

The project may only be carried out after written approval has been granted. Please note that invoices dated prior to the approval date will not be accepted. The project must commence within the first year following approval. If no interim report on research progress and no initial financial statement are submitted within the first year following approval, the grant will be forfeited. This also applies to any subsequent years for longer-term projects, for which an annual interim report must be submitted.
